COTTON

From polo shirts to ļ¬‚eeces, and from T-shirts to Undercolors brand items, cotton is by far the most prevalent ļ¬ber in Benetton Groupā€™s collections.

Benetton Group prohibits the use of cotton coming from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the region of Xinjiang, China, areas where penal or child labor have been reported.

Organic cotton

In 2024, organic cotton ā€“ that is, derived from non-genetically modified plants grown according to organic farming principles, without GMOs or chemical fertilisers and pesticides, and therefore with a lower environmental impact ā€“ accounted for 14% of the overall production of all cotton items. Organic cotton derives from certified sources. These are independent certification systems that trace organic cotton from its source.

Recycled cotton

Recycled cotton comes from pre-consumer waste (production leftovers) and post-consumer waste (fabrics and finished garments that have reached the end of their life). Once collected and sorted by color, the waste is cut into small pieces, frayed and reused for new productions of already colored yarns. To ensure a finished product with high quality, resistance and durability characteristics, it is necessary to add virgin cotton fibers (or other fibers). All our recycled cotton garments contain at least 20% recycled cotton, coming from certified supply chains.

DENIM

Since 2012, Benetton Groupā€™s collections have not carried denim items treated with sand-blasting. Moreover, we developed a laser-treated ā€œdenim colourā€ for menā€™s and womenā€™s denim items.

WOOL

As upholders of the tradition of Italian knitwear, we cannot ignore the excellence of wool, a biodegradable material that lasts a long time and requires fewer washes at lower temperatures.

Woolmark

In 2023, Benetton Group celebrated 50 years of partnership with Woolmark, an Australian brand that has established itself as the global wool authority over the past 50 years. The collaboration resulted in the certification of the quality and sustainability of over one million Extra Fine Merino wool products of the United Colors of Benetton winter collection. Woolmark is committed to developing and promoting a more responsible use of wool and to reassuring brands and consumers that wool is a sustainable choice for the fashion industry.

Recycled wool

Like other textile fibers, wool is recyclable and retains all the properties of traditional wool. Italy is the world capital of wool recycling.

In our collections, there are also items made of recycled wool. In particular, United Colors of Benetton garments in recycled wool use a mix of virgin fiber and recycled fiber (at least 20%) from certified supply chains.

VISCOSE

Viscose is an artificial fiber of natural origin; in fact, it comes from the wood pulp of trees.

Our GREEN B garments - also in its modal and lyocell variants - come from two suppliers who have distinguished themselves globally for their contribution to forest conservation, transparency and traceability.
